We are currently facing a climate and ecological crisis.

While theatre might not be one of the top polluting industries, it has an ecological impact all the same. It is our responsibility as theatre makers to shift the industry standards and our ways of working to reduce its ecological impacts. Our work, as humans living on this planet today, is to strive towards Climate Justice and a Just Transition across all sectors, governments and communities.

I believe in theatre’s power to help shape, illuminate and move us. I am committed to making work with the least ecological impact I can and to including climate justice education in my collaborations. I am a Certified Carbon Literacy Facilitator. I deliver bespoke Carbon Literacy in Theatre trainings to organisations and freelancers and I facilitate creative workshops centred around climate themes.

CARBON LITERACY IN THEATRE TRAINING:

Carbon Literacy is an awareness of the carbon costs and impact of everyday activities, and provides the ability and motivation to reduce emissions on an individual, community and organisational basis. I deliver Carbon Literacy in Theatre workshops online, in person, and as a series of embodied creative drama sessions.

Through the workshop you will learn about the science and impacts of climate change; climate justice; carbon footprints; and ways to incorporate environmental responsibility into your work as a theatre maker. The training involves facilitated discussion, giving all attendees the opportunity to align the learning with their own theatre practice whether they freelance or work within an organisation. At the end of the workshop, and upon completion of a short action plan, you will be accredited as Carbon Literate. For more about Carbon Literacy please visit: https://carbonliteracy.com/about-us/

Insightful, engaging and motivating.

I feel more empowered that my actions will make a difference. I feel well informed to encourage others and it has been a spring board for ideas on how to practically implement sustainable actions within my work.

It really made an impression on me; I feel motivated to make changes in my work and lifestyle to help protect the planet.

I really enjoyed meeting with a variety of practitioners from different backgrounds and areas of the arts to compare our individual experiences of sustainable working.
